Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging: Kit or Build It?

Program guide · Vivier

The Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program ($672) bundles seven full-size products, and at our current prices those seven cost $974 bought separately. So the kit wins on price whenever you want at least three of its treatment products. Buying individually is the better call when you want a different retinol strength, a different sunscreen, or you have never used Vivier before. Here is what is in the program, what each piece costs on its own, and three ways to build a smaller version.

Quick answers

What is in the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program?
Seven full-size products: HEXAM cleanser, Refreshing Toner, GrenzCine Eye, QuintiSerum, Retinol 1.0%, Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer and Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted. Vivier positions it for deeper lines, loss of volume and uneven tone.
How much does the program save?
$302 at our current prices. The seven products total $974 individually; the program is $672, about 31 percent less.
Is it cheaper to buy the three main products on their own?
Barely. QuintiSerum, Retinol 1.0% and GrenzCine Eye come to $646 on their own, $26 less than the whole kit. If you want those three, the program is the better buy.
Who should buy separately instead?
Anyone new to Vivier, anyone who has not used a 1.0% retinol before, and anyone who wants Sheer SPF 45 rather than the tinted mineral SPF 30 that comes in the kit.
Advanced or Essential?
Essential uses C E Peptides, Radiant Eye Contour Cream and Retinol 0.5% for $610. Advanced steps each of those up and costs $62 more. If you have not used retinol every night for at least six months, Essential is the safer start.

What is in the program

Vivier sells five programs, and the Advanced Anti-Aging Program is the one built for what the brand calls advanced visible signs of ageing: deeper lines and wrinkles, thinning skin, loss of volume and uneven tone. Our guide to all five Vivier programs covers how it compares to the others. This post answers the narrower question we hear most about it: should you buy the box, or pick the pieces.

Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program, seven full-size products
Deeper lines · loss of firmness · uneven tone

Advanced Anti-Aging Program

Seven full-size Vivier products in the brand's prepare, target, moisturize and protect sequence, with Vivier's detailed application steps included in the box.

  • Retinol strength: 1.0%
  • Vitamin C: QuintiSerum (15 percent vitamin C with five peptides, per Vivier)
  • Eye: GrenzCine Eye
  • Sunscreen: Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted
$672 · Shop Advanced Anti-Aging Program

Every product in the box is full size and sold separately on our site, which is what makes the comparison below possible. Vivier notes that it may modify program contents without notice, so the list reflects the program as listed on the date above.

The price math

The seven products, bought individually
Product Role Individual price
HEXAM Gentle gel cleanser, AM and PM $65
Refreshing Toner Prepare, AM and PM $61
GrenzCine Eye Eye, AM and PM $222
QuintiSerum Vitamin C and peptide serum, AM $276
Retinol 1.0% Retinol, PM $148
Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer Moisturize, AM and PM $130
Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted Protect, AM $72
Total, bought separately Seven products $974
Advanced Anti-Aging Program The same seven products $672

The saving is $302, or about 31 percent. That is the largest saving of any Vivier program, for a simple reason: the three treatment products in it, QuintiSerum, GrenzCine Eye and Retinol 1.0%, are among the most expensive items in the Vivier line, and they alone come to $646.

The number that decides it. The three treatment products cost $646 on their own. The whole program, with the cleanser, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen added, costs $672. If you want all three, you are paying $26 for four more full-size products. Even the four products most people consider essential, the serum, the retinol, the eye cream and the moisturizer, come to $776 individually, more than the kit.

When the kit is the right buy

Buy the program if any of these describe you.

  • You want QuintiSerum, Retinol 1.0% and GrenzCine Eye anyway. The math above settles it. The kit is the cheapest way to own those three.
  • You already use a 1.0% retinol from Vivier or another brand, every night, without trouble. The program's retinol is the top Vivier strength, and it is the piece that makes the kit unsuitable for a beginner.
  • You are restarting a full routine from scratch. A move, a long break from skincare, or a decision to switch brands entirely. Seven matched products with Vivier's own application steps in the box is the least effort way to do that.
  • You like a tinted mineral sunscreen. The program's SPF is Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted, a 100 percent mineral formula with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and an adaptive sheer tint. If that is what you would have chosen anyway, nothing in the kit is wasted.

Three ways to build it yourself

Buying separately makes sense when the program contains something you would not have chosen. Here are the three builds we suggest most often, with live prices.

Three alternatives to the full program
Build Products Total Best for
The gentler version Serum 30 ($220), Retinol 0.5% ($118), Radiant Eye Contour Cream ($126) $464 Someone who wants the Advanced routine's shape with a step-down retinol and a lighter vitamin C. Add your own cleanser, moisturizer and SPF.
The firmness version GrenzCine Serum ($348), GrenzCine Eye ($222), Retinol 0.5% ($118) $688 Thinning skin and loss of volume as the main concern, where Vivier's Polyamine-DAB range matters more than vitamin C. See our GrenzCine guide.
The first-time Vivier version HEXAM ($65), Serum 10 ($130), Sheer SPF 45 ($80) $275 Anyone who has never used the brand. Four weeks on these tells you whether Vivier suits your skin before you spend program money.

The gentler version

Most people who hesitate over the Advanced program are hesitating over the retinol. Vivier describes Retinol 1.0% as a high-strength formula for experienced users, and directs starting it once or twice a week in the evening before building up. If you are not there yet, Retinol 0.5% uses the same Poly-Pore slow-release encapsulation at half the strength. Pair it with Serum 30, Vivier's higher-strength plain vitamin C, and Radiant Eye Contour Cream, and you have the Advanced routine's three-part structure at $464. Our night routine guide shows how to work the retinol in.

The firmness version

If what bothers you is the look of thinning, less firm skin rather than lines or tone, the more useful upgrade is not QuintiSerum but GrenzCine Serum, which carries Vivier's Polyamine-DAB technology for the whole face as GrenzCine Eye does for the eye area. It costs more than the program's serum, so this build is not a saving; it is a different emphasis. Keep the retinol at 0.5% unless you are already conditioned to 1.0%.

The first-time Vivier version

A program is a $672 commitment to a routine you have not tried. If you have never used Vivier, buy the cleanser, one serum and a sunscreen, use them for a month, and then decide. Serum 10 is the entry-level vitamin C, and Sheer SPF 45 is the untinted, higher-factor alternative to the program's SPF 30. Our Vivier routine for beginners walks this path in detail.

Order of use

Whether you buy the program or build it, the sequence is the same. Vivier prints the detailed steps in the program box; this is the short version using the brand's own directions for each product.

  1. Cleanse with HEXAM, morning and evening. Vivier describes it as a gentle gel cleanser for all skin types, including sensitive, oily and acne-prone skin.
  2. Tone with Refreshing Toner on a cotton pad, then let the skin dry.
  3. Eye: one pump of GrenzCine Eye around the eye area with your ring finger, morning and evening. Vivier places it before the vitamin C serum.
  4. Morning serum: two to three drops of QuintiSerum on face, neck and chest. Vivier directs it once or twice daily; in a routine that also contains a 1.0% retinol, morning only is the comfortable choice.
  5. Evening retinol: a pea-sized amount of Retinol 1.0% on the face, neck and décolletage. Start once or twice a week and build to nightly as your skin tolerates it, per Vivier.
  6. Moisturize with Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer, morning and evening.
  7. Morning sunscreen: Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted, applied liberally fifteen minutes before going out and reapplied at least every two hours. Vivier notes that daily SPF is essential while using retinol.

Advanced or Essential

The other question that comes up is whether the Essential Anti-Aging Program ($610) would do. Four products are the same in both: HEXAM, Refreshing Toner, Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer and a sunscreen (Essential ships with Sheer SPF 45 instead of the tinted mineral SPF 30). Three change.

What changes between Essential and Advanced
Step Essential ($610) Advanced ($672)
Vitamin C serum C E Peptides: 10 percent L-ascorbic acid with vitamin E and three peptides QuintiSerum: 15 percent vitamin C (12.5 percent L-ascorbic acid plus 2.5 percent ethyl ascorbic acid), vitamin E and five peptides
Eye Radiant Eye Contour Cream GrenzCine Eye, Vivier's Polyamine-DAB eye cream for thinning skin and loss of volume
Retinol Retinol 0.5% Retinol 1.0%
Sunscreen Sheer SPF 45 Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted

Choose Advanced if you have used a 0.5% or stronger retinol nightly for six months or more and your main concerns are deeper lines and the look of volume loss. Choose Essential if you are in your thirties or forties, see the first real lines, and want a complete routine rather than the strongest one. Vivier describes QuintiSerum as ideal for normal to dry and especially mature skin, which is a fair summary of who Advanced is for.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program?

The Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program includes seven full-size products: HEXAM cleanser, Refreshing Toner, GrenzCine Eye, QuintiSerum, Retinol 1.0%, Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer and Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted, plus Vivier's printed application steps.

How much does the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program save compared to buying separately?

At our current Canadian prices the seven products cost $974 individually and the Advanced Anti-Aging Program costs $672, a saving of $302 or about 31 percent. The saving is large because QuintiSerum, GrenzCine Eye and Retinol 1.0% are among the most expensive products in the Vivier range.

Is the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program suitable for beginners?

Not usually. The program contains Retinol 1.0%, which Vivier describes as a high-strength formula for experienced users. Someone new to retinol should start with Retinol 0.3% or 0.5%, and someone new to Vivier should try a cleanser, one serum and a sunscreen before committing to a seven-product program.

Can I buy just the serum, retinol and eye cream from the program?

Yes, but it saves very little. QuintiSerum ($276), Retinol 1.0% ($148) and GrenzCine Eye ($222) cost $646 together, only $26 less than the full $672 program, which adds the cleanser, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen.

What is the difference between the Essential and Advanced Anti-Aging Programs?

Three products step up. Essential ($610) uses C E Peptides, Radiant Eye Contour Cream and Retinol 0.5%; Advanced ($672) uses QuintiSerum, GrenzCine Eye and Retinol 1.0%. Advanced also ships with Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted rather than Sheer SPF 45.

How long does the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program last?

Every product is full size, so roughly three months of daily use. Vivier says a bottle of QuintiSerum used twice daily lasts three to four months and should be used within six months of opening; the retinol and eye cream typically outlast the cleanser and sunscreen.

Can I use QuintiSerum and Retinol 1.0% in the same routine?

Yes. Vivier's program places QuintiSerum in the morning and Retinol 1.0% in the evening, which keeps the vitamin C and the retinol on separate ends of the day. Our guide to using retinol and vitamin C together covers the reasoning.

Where can I buy the Vivier Advanced Anti-Aging Program in Canada?

Vivier is a Canadian brand sold through physicians, clinics and authorized retailers. Your Skin Solution is an authorized Canadian retailer of Vivier and stocks the Advanced Anti-Aging Program and every product in it individually, with free shipping on orders over $99 within Canada.
