Until recently there was one Mystro. In October 2025 skinbetter added a second, Mystro Revive, and since then the question we hear most about the brand is which of the two to buy. It is the serum for someone whose skin is not dry, not particularly reactive, and not in need of a retinoid-level intervention, but who wants the overall surface to look smoother and more even.
The formula is built on three antioxidants that recur across the brand, alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin and ergothioneine, alongside niacinamide, hydrolysed hyaluronic acid and squalane. A group of adaptogenic botanical extracts, including turmeric, magnolia and echinacea, is what skinbetter credits for the balancing idea in the name. The texture is a light, fast-absorbing serum that sits comfortably under a moisturizer or under AlphaRet at night.
Dispensing is worth knowing before you buy, because it changes the value calculation. The directions call for up to one pump, morning and evening, across the face and out to the hairline and eyebrows. At that rate the 30 ml bottle is not a quick one to get through.
Mystro Revive, explained
Mystro Revive Renewing Serum launched in the autumn of 2025 for a specific kind of skin: dry, mature-looking skin that has lost some of its firmness. skinbetter positions it for the years around and after menopause, when many people find their skin becomes drier, looks thinner and less elastic, and stops responding to the products that used to suit it. The concerns it is built for are the appearance of firmness, elasticity and crepiness, fine lines, and barrier comfort.
The useful way to understand Revive is to start from Active Balance and look at what was added. The antioxidant core is the same: alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin and ergothioneine, with niacinamide and hydrolysed hyaluronic acid. On top of that, Revive carries the lipids a drier barrier is short of, cholesterol and two ceramides, and two skinbetter technologies that Active Balance does not have. P.A.T.H.13 is the brand's biotechnology for the look of firmness and elasticity. TAP is an antioxidant support technology built around allyl PQQ. Superoxide dismutase and vitamin E round out the list.
So Revive is heavier on the ingredients that matter to dry skin and lighter on nothing. The texture reflects that: it is more nourishing than Active Balance, and it uses one to two pumps rather than up to one. If your skin is oily or you get congested, that is the reason to stay with Active Balance rather than trading up.

- Morning and evening, on clean, dry skin. Mystro is the first leave-on step after cleansing.
- Active Balance: up to one pump. Revive: one to two pumps. Massage across the whole face, out to the hairline and over the eyebrows. Take it down the neck and chest if you want to.
- Let it absorb completely before the next product. This is in the brand's directions and it matters, because Mystro is a serum that sits under things rather than on top of them.
- At night, follow with AlphaRet Overnight Cream if you use it, then moisturizer. In the morning, moisturizer and sunscreen.
